REMOTE SUPPLYCHAIN INFORMATION FLOW

As a remote supply chain manager, it’s important to have the right tools and processes in place to ensure real-time information flow. Here are a few tips that might help:

  • Use a cloud-based supply chain management system: This will allow you and your team to access real-time information from anywhere, at any time. There are many options available, such as SAP Oracle SCM Cloud, and JDA Software.
  • Establish communication protocols: Make sure everyone on your team knows how to communicate with each other and what channels to use. For example, you might use email for non-urgent messages, but a messaging app like Slack for more time-sensitive communications. I especially prefer Slack, as no communications can get lost or forgotten. You can even have different channels for different teams and information flow. Slack integrates with most project management tools like Asana, Trello and Teams.
  • Set clear expectations: Make sure everyone knows what is expected of them in terms of updating information and communicating with the team. This could include regular check-ins or status updates.
  • Use data and analytics: By analyzing data from your supply chain management system, you can identify potential issues or bottlenecks before they become major problems. This can help you make informed decisions and keep the supply chain running smoothly.

It took me a while to know information and data is the most valuable currency these days. Make sure to keep all your data and information safe, as you would your block of gold.
